Boyd Lamar Ellis

He was born November 5, 1931, to George Willard Ellis and Emily Purser Ellis in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at his home in Brigham City, Utah at the age of 94.

Boyd was very proud to have served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. While being stationed in Germany he had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe.

He married Beverly Garner in 1954 and had two wonderful kids, Terry Lynn and Steven K. He later married Janet Wilson in 1961 where two more wonderful kids joined the family, Richard J and Kimberlee.

In 1962 he opened Ellis Plumbing and Heating. Over the years there were shops in Logan, Brigham City, and Salt Lake City. Not only did he enjoy what he did, but he encouraged everyone working for him to have a good work ethic and be proud of the job they were doing. As a Journeyman Plumber, he was always ready to help friends and family in need. Both sons, Steve and Rick served apprenticeships as pipefitters but then went on in different directions. When a slump in the economy came, he went back to being a union plumber and retired with 15 years of service. This retirement didn’t last long. For the next 18 years he was a school bus driver for Box Elder School District picking up kids in the West Corrine area.

Boyd spent his life working hard so he could enjoy life doing what he loved with his family. He was a founding member of the Mount Ogden Ski Club so many weekends were spent on the ski hill. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and traveling in his motorhome. He was a collector of many fine treasures as can be found in his multiple storage units.

Survived by his wife Janet Wilson Ellis; Terry (Bob) Smith, Winchester, KY; Steve Hannawacker, Seal Beach, CA; Rick (Shonna) Ellis Howell, UT; Kim (Scott) Jones, Ellis, ID; 15 Grandkids, 32 Great-grandkids, and 5 Great-Great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and his 9 siblings.

At his request there will not be a viewing or a service at this time. Next summer his ashes will be laid to rest in the South Park Cemetery near Jackson, Wyoming.
