Charles R. Berchtold

August 13, 1945 — May 5, 2025

Brigham City

Charles R. (Chuck/Charlie) Berchtold, 79, passed away at his home on May 5, 2025 after a battle with COPD. He was born to Earl E. and Violet Redlings Berchtold in Brigham City, UT at the Cooley Memorial Hospital. He was raised on the family farm/ranch south of Tremonton, UT, on the Iowa String. Chuck attended Bear River High School and graduated in 1963. He married LaGay Anderson on April 1st 1966. Chuck was a Vietnam Era Veteran, from 1965–1969, in the U.S. Air Force. He and his wife were stationed in England during that time. A few years after returning to The States and being discharged from the military, Charles and LaGay had their daughter, Trinity in April of 1975. He attended Weber State College for a few years and then worked as a Civil Servant at Hill AFB. He retired from Hill at age 56 and was a consultant for an Aerospace Company for nine years, before completely retiring, so he could enjoy his wood-working hobby and hang out with his favorite sidekick, his Grandson Tate. Chuck also enjoyed deer hunting, pheasant hunting, camping, and fishing. He spent a lot of time on the family farm/ranch, riding and mending fences, and just enjoying the peace and quiet. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Earl & Violet, his brother Wayne Berchtold, and his sister Corey (Randy) Lee. He is survived by his wife LaGay Berchtold, his daughter Trinity (Blake) Burbank, his grandson Tate Burbank, his sister Katherine Winningham, his sister Charlene (Thayne) Stokes, his brother-in-law Randy Lee, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to Symbii Home Health & Hospice. Chuck didn’t want traditional services, but instead, the family will be holding a celebration of life at a later date.
