Our beloved husband, father, “papa” and friend David Blaine Armitstead passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
David was born on November 26, 1954 to Blaine Rowley Armitstead and Etta Memmott Schult. David was the only son and beloved brother to three sisters. He came into the world three months prematurely, so small that he was brought home from the hospital in a shoebox.
David grew up in California where he worked as a beekeeper before beginning a long and dedicated career as a truck driver. After several years, his wife Tamara joined with him as they drove as a team. David had no need for a GPS, a talent which was appreciated by lost friends and family who many times called him for directions. After retiring from long-haul driving David enjoyed working as a school bus driver for the Box Elder School District.
David faithfully served an LDS mission in London, England after which he attended Ricks College. While there he met and married Kelly Cassidy on June 4, 1980. They made their home in Texas where they were blessed with three daughters and one son. They were later divorced.
On August 16, 2000, David married the love of his life, Tamara Felt Armitstead. Through this marriage he was blessed with four children, who he loved as his own. David and Tamara lived in Brigham City for many years and then moved to Perry where they have resided to the present.
David is survived by his loving wife, Tamara; daughters: Abigayle (Beau) Berry, Mariette (Rhett) Dunn, Rachel (Matt) Burgin, and Lindsey (Cory) Bowen; and sons: Jacob (Alisa) Armitstead, Jordon (Rachel) Hunter, Eric (Debbie) Hunter and Jonathon (Trina) Hunter. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild who all adored him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Donna.
David will be remembered for his kindness, work ethics, fun loving nature, and deep love for his family. He will be greatly missed, but the sweet memories will endure forever.
