Dennis Spence

November 7, 1941 — June 21, 2018

Our loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle, Dennis Clifford Spence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in the home of his daughter. Dennis was born on November 7, 1941 to Phyllis Allred and Clifford S. Spence. He was raised in Wellsville, Utah, where he graduated from South Cache High School. He served an LDS mission to Norway from 1961 to 1965. Dennis married the love of his life, Colleen Halling, on November 8, 1968, in the Logan Temple. They lived in Brigham City, Utah until July2016. They had two children: Sheri (Kyle) Hemsley and K.C (Jennifer) Spence. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and held various positions throughout the years. Dennis worked as a barber, Fram Corp, Champion Home Builds, and Custodian for the LDS Church. He was known for his service on community boards, around the community, and in the National Guard. His passion for the Scouting program and dedicated numerous hours to helping boys get their Eagle Scout. He received his Silver Beaver and an awarded for over 65 years of service in the Scouts. He had a love for music and participated in several barbershop quartets and community theater. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Colleen H Spence, and one sister, Keryl Spence. He is survived by his children; four granddaughters: Paige, Jerica, Kailey and Alora; one great granddaughter; three siblings: Stan Spence, Sheryl Brown and Dixie Francis. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at the LDS 3rd ward building, 203 N. 200 West, at 11 a.m. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E. 200 South, Brigham City, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday prior to the service at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard of Box Elder County.
