Erma Norene Gardner Gibby

Erma Norene Gardner Gibby, age 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Brigham City, Utah, on July 21, 2025.

Born July 16, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Norene was the youngest child of John Blunck Gardner and Erma Bernice Keller. She graduated from Olympus High School before earning her bachelor's degree in nursing at Brigham Young University.

She married Leo Udell Gibby in the Salt Lake Temple on June 3, 1966, and together they raised six children. Norene was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, including Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Primary President, Stake Young Women’s Presidency, Gospel Doctrine and many other positions. She and Leo also served two missions together later in life.

Norene worked as a registered nurse for over 28 years at Pioneer Care Center in Brigham City, providing compassionate bedside care to countless patients, including her own parents.

She is survived by her husband Leo; their six children, Bryan (Ladene) of Mountain Home, Idaho; Mark (Beckee) of Brigham City; Dale (Sheri) of Columbus, Indiana; Darren (Emily) of Chandler, Arizona; Kristen (Tyler) Walton of Honeyville, Utah; and Scott (Heather) of Perry, Utah; twenty-four grandchildren and five great grandchildren and one brother-in-law, Paul Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 25 from 6-8 PM at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E 200 S., Brigham City and on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 105 Fishburn Drive, in Brigham City, with funeral services to follow at 11:00 at the same church. Interment will follow at the Brigham City Cemetery.
