Listen to Obituary

Evelyn Falslev Larsen left this earthly life on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the age of 91. Evelyn was born on July 21, 1934 in Benson, Utah to Oga Lorenzo Jensen Falslev and Sylvia Nelson. She was the seventh of twelve children. She spent her childhood in Benson on the family farm working hard and making great memories with her siblings.

She graduated from North Cache High School and continued her education at Brigham Young University. Her sister Shirley joined her at BYU and they had lots of fun together. She was in the first graduating class of the BYU Nursing School. She met her sweetheart Larry Jack Larsen at the age of 15. When he returned from serving in the US Air Force in Korea they were married in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 21, 1956. They moved to Brigham City, Utah shortly after Larry started working at Thiokol Corporation in 1958.

Evelyn worked as a nurse at Cooley Hospital and Brigham City Community Hospital. She later worked at Sunshine Terrace Nursing Facility in Logan. Evelyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings including Primary President and in their retirement years she and Larry served as Primary Teachers and Activity Day Leaders, a calling that they both loved. She was a member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Ladies Community Club for many years.

Her hobbies included scrapbooking, quilting, and baking. She made special quilts for her grandchildren as they graduated from high school. She made special birthday cakes for her children, grandchildren, friends, and neighbors. She always remembered birthdays and called to sing to the birthday person. She loved spending time with her family and had many traditions: Chili and breadsticks on Peach Days, homemade ice cream in the summer, peach cobbler in the fall, chili on Halloween, hamburgers on the grill just because. She attended many singing performances, dance recitals, sports, and always had a camera nearby.

Evelyn loved all BYU sports and in her later years spent many hours watching every game. Over the years her grandma name “Banoose” evolved into Banny, Banjo, Bad Goose and Bad Goosie. She loved them all.

After retirement she and Larry enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. When Larry suffered from dementia in his final years, she moved into the Lighthouse Memory Care at Maple Springs to take care of him. After Larry passed away, she was able to live with her widowed sister Shirley again just like in their younger years. They would spend time with their other sisters playing card games, attending the Temple, and having “sister parties”. When her health no longer permitted her living independently she moved to The Charleston Assisted Living in Cedar Hills, Utah.

Evelyn is survived by her four children: Stephen (Cindi)Larsen, Brigham City, UT, David (Jill) Larsen, Eagle Mountain, UT, LuAnn (Reed) Hancey, Brigham City, UT (Currently serving in the Philippines Quezon City Mission), Linda (Russ)Brown, Ivins, UT, 15 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 4 sisters Shirley Pedersen, American Fork, UT, Joan (Heber)Lundberg, Logan, UT, Norma (Jim) Hancey, Hyde Park, UT and Arlene (Gary) Hobbs, American Fork, UT.

She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents, one sister, six brothers, one grandson – David Cory Larsen.

Evelyn will be remembered for her service to others and for being a fun grandma and great grandma.

Special thanks to the staff and caregivers at The Charleston and her friend Elizabeth. Special thanks to Evelyn’s sister Shirley Pedersen and her niece Shelly Ebert for their loving care. Special thanks to Nancy Orgeron for loving and taking care of Jazzy as Evelyn would have.
