Jerald Thompson

November 9, 1943 — April 3, 2018

Jerald Ross Thompson Beloved husband, father, grandfather, Uncle, passed away April 3, 2018 from kidney failure. Jerald loved life and had more interests and pursuits than time to explore them. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and diligently served wherever he was called. His testimony was born clearly from the pulpit often and again to his friends, neighbors, and family or to anyone whom would listen. Jerald loved flying in the Air Force for twenty years and after retiring, he became a pilot and co-owner of two small airplanes. After he retired from that, he started flying drones. He actively enjoyed making music and sang with local choirs and a men's choir. He was 'Jack of all trades' at playing musical instruments. Jerald also spent hours on end researching family histories and his was a double assignment having natural parents as well as an adopted parents. The family would like to thank the University of Utah Hospital Kidney Clinic, as well as the person who donated their kidney to him. In addition, many thanks to the Integrity home care services and finally their Hospice services. Funeral services were held at the Gillies Funeral Chapel, and many thanks to all who paid their respects to him and his family. Condolences may be sent to Gillies Funeral Chapel in Brigham City, Utah. The following obituary was written by Jerald himself, before he died: I, Jerald Ross Thompson, departed this life on April 3, 2018, bound for "whatever-comes-next". Some people say I died of end-stage renal disease, but the truth is I was just too darn old and tired to carry on anymore. I arrived on this earth on 9 Nov 1943 at American falls, Idaho - compliments of my natural parents Erma Peck and Grant Fackrell. I, along with my two sisters (Darla and Dorothy) were raised by Grant's sister, Alice, and her husband, Fred Thompson. They legally adopted us and we were sealed to them in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. I squandered by youth in and around American Falls, Idaho, graduated from high school there, then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1962. That occupation lasted my 20 years and I lived in Greece (2 times), Turkey and Viet Nam, as well as Georgia, Texas, Mississippi and New Jersey. After retiring from the Air Force I worked at the rocket plant west of Brigham City for 27 years, retiring (again) in 2009. Along the way I married Mary Patricia Fillmore, who, prior to our getting divorced, bore three children - Marina Helen, Rebecca Lin, and Jerald Raymond - the later two having died at birth without me even seeing them. Patricia and I later adopted a 4-year-old son, David Seth Thompson, who we raised to adulthood. He and his wife, Tammy Bushnell, are parents of our only two grandchildren, Rhiannon and Dakota Thompson. I married Louise E Schroeder on 18 April 1987 in the Jordan River LDS temple. In doing so I "inherited" five more children - Tammy, Janette, Brian, Emily and Sandi - and later became "Grandpa Jerald" to their 18 children. I shall be planted in the Brigham City Cemetery. I was sealed to both of my wives in LDS temples. Please... two is enough.
