John Arden Ramsay, a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully at home in Brigham City on August 29, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on September 21, 1937, in Twin Falls, Idaho, John lived a life marked by dedication and devotion to family, community, and faith.

A proud graduate of Buhl High School, Class of 1955, John went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from June of 1955 to September of 1958., followed by service in the Naval Reserves until June of 1963. His time in the military instilled in him a strong sense of duty, discipline, and a commitment to serving others.

After his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a Project Engineer at Thiokol, where he made significant and meaningful contributions until his retirement in 2002.

John’s life was deeply rooted in his faith. As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully in two bishoprics and in numerous callings that enriched both his life and the lives of those around him. His dedication was further reflected in his service as a temple officiator in both the Ogden and Brigham City temples for fourteen years, a role that brought him great joy and spiritual fulfillment.

Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, John was a man of many interests. He especially loved gardening, creating beautiful spaces that brought peace and joy to his family and friends. He also enjoyed bowling and even has several trophies he was proud of. He was deeply engaged in temple work and genealogy always finding purpose in service.

John is survived by his children, Shauna Whitaker (Todd), Shellie Ramsay, Michael Jay Ramsay (Kimberley) and Sharla Winn; seven cherished grandchildren; and six great-grandchilden, those that were part of his life brought him immense joy and pride.

He is also survived by his sisters, Iris Adams and Ann Eads, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Ramsay; his son, Jeffrey Arden Ramsay; his parents, Lester Esli Ramsay and Lillian Johnston; his brothers Leslie Davis, and James Ramsay; and his sisters, Nola, Vera, Doris, Elizabeth, Veda, and Stella.

John Arden Ramsay’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, faith and service. He will be deeply missed by all ho had the privilege to know him. His legacy lives on in the lives of his family and all those he touched with his kindness, humility, and unwavering devotion.

A funeral will be on Friday, September 5, 2025 at the LDS Brigham City 7th Ward, 531 N 100 W, Brigham City, at 9:00am. Burial will follow at Sharon Idaho Cemetery.
