Listen to Obituary

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Julie Vaun Carr Andersen, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Maple Springs Assisted Living in Brigham City, Utah.

She was born on September 6, 1941 in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of Ernest and Queenie Hunsaker Carr.

Julie graduated from Ogden High School in 1959, where she was a majorette.

She married Bruce Martin Andersen on September 9, 1960 in Ogden, Utah.

Julie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Relief Society.

Julie worked at Cooley Hospital in Brigham City, Intermountain Intertribal Indian School until closing in 1984, where she worked for 20 years. Following the Indian School, she worked at Brigham Medical Clinic and Student Health Center at Weber State, where she retired in 2000. While working at Weber State University she received two bachelor degrees.

She was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Box Elder County Women’s Auxiliary Search and Rescue, Utah State Women’s Auxiliary Search and Rescue, and National Search and Rescue Association where she served as secretary when Bruce was the National Commander. She won multiple trophies for shooting and off road driving at Search and Rescue Events.

Julie also was a Girl Scout leader and the advisor for Sharmea Sorority at Weber State.

Julie had many business adventures which include Sandak Sandals and Andy’s Candies. She hand made and sold thousands of suckers, and her booth at the Box Elder County Fair always created a busy time for the whole family. She was an excellent seamstress, creating beautiful works of art from very detailed Barbie clothes to her own wedding dress when she was only 18. She was very artistic, whether it be painting, knitting, Embroidery, quilting, or sewing. She loved to spend time in her flower garden, especially in the Spring.

Her most favorite calling in life was that of being a grandmother. She loved creating special memories for her grandchildren, attending countless softball, football, and soccer games, as well as "Grandma Days" where she made delightful treats, activities, and fun with no help from anyone else, just Grandma.

She had a way of making everyone and anyone feel welcome, and there were many who found our home a safe place to be because of our sweet mother. She had a quick wit and never hesitated to jump in the middle of any fun being had.

Surviving is her sweetheart, Bruce Andersen of Brigham City; Eric (Adrian) Andersen of Deweyville; Jordon (Kristen) Andersen of Honeyville; Dustin Andersen of Tremonton; Shaela (Dave) Glade of Beaver Dam; 12 grandchildren, one great grandson and one sister, Carol Reiva.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Sharla Andersen, sister, Kitty Minson, and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Eskridge Andersen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E 200 S., Brigham City, Utah, where her services will be live streamed.
