Lola Gene McArthur Rollins, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in Orem, Utah. Born in Lovell, Wyoming, on October 2, 1931, she was the cherished daughter of Chloe Hatch Asay and Evan Tippetts McArthur.
Lola Gene met her sweetheart, Thorald Hatch Rollins, when they were in junior high. The two graduated high school together and were married in June of 1952 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, following Thorald’s service in the Korean War. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion. After supporting Thorald through his studies at Utah State University, they moved to Southern California, where they spent many happy years, built lifelong friendships, and raised their growing family.
Over the course of 18 years, Lola Gene and Thorald welcomed five children—each with a name beginning with the letter "D": Debra (Dave) Tiek, Diane (Martin) Bacik, Don Wayne (Francine) Rollins, Doreen (Jeffrey) Nielsen, and David Jay (Tania) Rollins. Family was at the center of Lola Gene’s life, and she adored her children, 23 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson—with another great-great-grandchild expected soon.
In 1979, Lola Gene and Thorald moved to Brigham City, Utah, where she lived for nearly 40 wonderful years. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She especially loved her time working in the Ogden LDS Temple and her involvement with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was also a proud member of the Hills of Home Repertory Singers and found great fulfillment in her service with the German Extraction program.
Lola Gene had a deep passion for genealogy and dedicated over 50 years to family history work. Her legacy of connection and remembrance lives on in the generations that follow her. She was also gifted with her hands—creating beautiful heirloom-quality pieces through crocheting, quilting, and needlework. Her handmade gifts are cherished reminders of her love and creativity.
Lola Gene will be remembered for her unwavering love, quiet strength, gentle spirit, and the joy she found in serving others. Her influence will continue to be felt in the lives of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
Lola Gene is proceeded in death by her husband Thorald, her mother and father, Chloe and Evan McArthur; four sisters: Veoma, Hilma, Amy, Idella, and brother, Jay. Two of her grandchildren: Justin and Aaron Tiek, and several nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
Services for Lola Gene will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the LDS chapel located at 203 N. 200 W. in Brigham City, Utah. There will be a viewing from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the chapel. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place at the Brigham City Cemetery.
