Mel Nieto
Our loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, Manuel “Mel” Nieto, 55, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Ogden Regional Medical Center of natural causes.
He was born on April 19, 1970 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of Ramon Nieto and Minerva “Minnie” Aleman.
Mel graduated from Box Elder High School in 1988 and furthering his education in a bachelor's degree in Broadcasting.
He was a member of the Catholic Church and active at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Brigham City, Utah.
Mel worked for Autoliv for over 25 years, making numerous friends while at Autoliv.
He had been a past president of The Box Elder County Eagles. Mel loved the Raiders and the Utah Jazz, one of his favorite pastimes was watching football. Mel loved volunteering in the community. He served as chairman for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, making the event special for the community for several years.
Surviving are his mother, Minnie Nieto of Brigham City; his brother, Ramon Nieto of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Irma (Dan) Ruddell of North Ogden; Sandy (Luke) Seber of Brigham City and many nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father Ramon Sr.; one brother, James Nieto and one sister-in-law, Karen Nieto and his beloved dog, Kia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Henry’s Catholic Church 380 So 200 E., Brigham City, Utah.
A rosary will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 5:30 pm and a viewing to be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E 200 S., Brigham City, Utah.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
