Maxcine Effie Dumling, a beloved ceramics teacher and cherished member of the Brigham City community, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on February 12, 1943, in Brigham City, she dedicated her life to nurturing creativity and fostering connections through her passion for ceramics.
Maxcine’s warm spirit and gentle nature shone brightly in her classroom, where she inspired countless students to explore their artistic potential. Her love for creating ceramics was mirrored in her appreciation for all forms of art, as she embraced the beauty of craftsmanship and the joy it brought to others. Beyond her artistic endeavors, she enjoyed cooking delightful meals and cherished moments spent at the movies with her beloved daughter, Alina.
Maxcine made her best and forever friend at the age of four. Judie Mcdermott. Judy asked her mom if she was a kid and if she could come out and play. They stayed best friends from then on.
A proud graduate of Box Elder High School, Maxcine remained deeply rooted in her community. She was surrounded by family and friends who adored her for not only her creative talents but also her genuine kindness and affection. Maxcine's husband, Alan Dumling, alongside her son Alan and his wife Penny, and her daughter Alina, were by her side, sharing in her laughter, her art, and her love. She also took great pride in her siblings: brother DeLoss Anderson and sisters Jeri Garfield and Janet Hurne, who celebrated her life and legacy.
Maxcine was predeceased by her loving parents, a brother Ralph Anderson, and a sister Valoy Linville, who will forever hold a special place in her memory. Her absence will be felt deeply by those who were fortunate enough to know her, as her light touched many lives and inspired a generation of artists.
Her family invites all who knew and loved Maxcine to pay their respects during the viewings at the Gillies Funeral Chapel in Brigham City on December 15, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again at the Brigham City 8th Ward on December 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. A funeral service will follow that same day at 11:00 AM, leading to her burial at Riverside Cemetery in Garland at 12:30 PM.
