Maxine Jensen Millard

December 14, 1933 — November 19, 2024

Plain City, Utah

Maxine Jensen Millard left this world the morning of November 19, 2024. She died in her home surrounded by her family. She will be sorely missed.

Maxine was born December 14, 1933 to Ernest and Lola Jensen. She grew up in Mantua, Utah with her brothers, Blaine and Delbert Jensen who have preceded her in death. She graduated from Box Elder High School and LDS Business College focusing on business and secretarial work and worked many years as a secretary. She retired from the IRS in 1998 but continued working in other jobs for many years after, to support her family.

Maxine was previously married and had three children, Nancy Anderson (Larsen), Charles Anderson, and Ernest Anderson. After a divorce, Maxine married the love of her life, Gordon Millard on December 21, 1974. They were together one month short of fifty years.

Maxine and Gordie worked together for many years in the Brigham City Junior Chamber of Commerce (JCs) organizing community events such as the Peach Days Peach Queen Pageant, the Christmas Village, and advocating for fluoride in the water. She took over as president of the “Jaycettes” when Gordie was hospitalized. They loved to participate in community dances organized by the JCs.

Maxine learned to love gardening from her Grandmother Olivia. She loved leaving bare dirt and the beautiful flowers. She called it weeding “so all the root would be gone.” All you could see anywhere is beautiful brown dirt and not any green weeds.

Maxine and Gordie raised their grandchild, Lindzie Anderson, as their own from the age of four. When Lindzie was eight, Maxine, Gordie, and Lindzie decided they wanted to be baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Maxine and Gordie were sealed in the Ogden, Utah Temple in 2002. Maxine loved visiting and serving the people in her ward and community. Her favorite calling was visiting teaching (or ministering) to the people in her ward. She and Gordie have many friends in the Plain City area.

Maxine leaves a legacy of love, service, and dedication to family and friends that will carry on in her family. She was preceded in death by her son Ernest Anderson, her parents and siblings, and two grandchildren, Adam and Kristen Anderson. She met those members of her family when she went to the other side, but here the legacy continues with her husband, Gordie; her daughter, Nancy; her son, Charlie; her grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 11:00 am at Plain City 4th Ward, 2335 North 4350 West. Live streaming will be available at www.gilliesmortuary.com on Maxine’s obituary.
