Rae Lene Anderson Johnson

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Rae Lene Anderson Hayes Johnson, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

She was born on October 22, 1944 in Afton, Wyoming, a daughter of William Levere and Erma Hunsaker Anderson Willie. She was raised in Star Valley, Wyoming until April of 1957, her dad got a job teaching at a school in Kabul, Afghanistan. She attended a German speaking school while she was living there until they returned in December of 1959. She continued her schooling at Star Valley High School, graduating in 1962. She continued her education at Ricks College for one year. She then went to live with an aunt in Ogden where she attended beauty school.

Rae Lene met and married Beldon E. Hayes on December 21, 1963 and from this union a son Richard E. Hayes. They were later divorced. After her divorce from Beldon, she adopted a daughter in 1990, Alycia Rae. She married Jeffrey Lee Johnson on June 12, 2015 in the Bountiful, Utah Temple.

Rae Lene’s quick wit and sense of humor made her a favorite human to be around. Even when she felt like a semi had run over her she had a smile to lighten the load for those around her. Her husband Jeff called her “Rae of Sunshine.”

A big passion of hers was crocheting baby blankets and hats for the humanitarian project for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Every newborn baby in her ward received a one of a kind baby blanket. Rae Lene delighted in doing this service to the new littles as they arrived.

Surviving is her husband, Jeffrey Lee Johnson, three children, Richard E. (Angie); Alycia Rae (Jon); Emily; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Kloa Anderson Burgers, her brother, Lane Anderson and one grandchild, and three great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the Atlas Hospice for their help, compassion for the help in this difficult time. The Memorial Ward members that brought in meals and were there to give help when needed. A big hug of thanks to her eternal companion, Jeffrey for his tender loving support and care that he gave to her when he was hurting just like her.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 9:00 am at the Memorial Ward 4251 S 4800 W. West Valley, Utah with a viewing on Monday, Feb 23, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church. Livestreaming will take place at https://zoom.us/j/96883909150.

Interment will be in the Afton Cemetery, Afton, Wyoming on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026 at 2:00 pm
