Reed Henry Nelson

Our loving husband, father, gpa, brother, uncle, and friend, Reed Henry Nelson, 79, passed away at home surrounded by his loving wife, daughter and grand-daughters early Sunday morning, August 31, 2025 from a long battle with cancer. He was born June 28, 1946 in Brigham City, Utah to Merlin and Francis Nelson. He married the love of his life and soul mate Sharon Thiel, July 21, 1972. Then later they fulfilled their dreams in Perry, Utah. He loved  hunting, camping, riding and racing horses with his family and friends, as well as supporting and spending time with his family. He graduated from Box Elder High School. He grew up helping his parents on their family farm. He worked at Miconi Tile in his younger years. He later was employed with HAFB and retired after 33 years. He went on to training racehorses for 45 years. He also enjoyed working on his farm and taking care of his animals. He is survived  by his wife Sharon, daughter Tawnya (Brad Roper) Nelson, granddaughters Des (Braxton) Taylor, Taylor (Nick) Bradford, Lexi (Nate) Woodward and great grandbabies Payton, RiverLynn, Lane, Ridgelyn, and Taylie. He is also survived by his siblings Jerry (Linda) Nelson, Carlene Ston, and many nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Lynda and Lynn Yeates, brothers  Gary, Richard, and Adrian, his children Ricky and Tammy, and great granddaughter Brailey.  The family would like to thank Jessi, Liz and Laura from the CNS Hospice team for the amazing care and helping us through the hard time, Dr. John Markeson and to all the family, friends and neighbors for all the love and support through the years.

A  visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel. followed by a graveside service at Brigham City cemetery at 11:00 a.m. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Perry, UT LDS church, 1290 West 2950 South, Perry following the graveside.
