Richard Murphy

Richard Wayne Murphy was born to Arthur Eugene Murphy and Virginia Margaret Murphy in 1939. He passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024. Richard started his elementary school years in a one room school house in rural Missouri. He graduated from high school in lowa, and furthering his education to get a Bachelors of Business Administration from lowa Wesleyan College. He enjoyed singing in choirs, operas at college, being in many plays, and tennis was one of his passions. He met Barbara in 1959 and the two married in 1961. Living 62 years of marriage together, having two daughters and two sons to share their life with: Deborah, Patricia, Steven and Darrell. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Michael, Brooke and Morgan; great grandchild: Ava. He enjoyed his membership with the Kiwanis, Masonic Lodge and nothing could replace his love and devotion to his business: Murphy's Appliance and TV which supported this community for many years, working side-by-side with the love of his life, Barbara; along with children, Patricia, Darrell and Steven. He was a car enthusiast, loved attending car shows, and was on a bowling league in his younger years. Special thanks go to all the people who provided support, love and the necessary health care treatment he needed before going home to God. Richard is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Murphy, and his parents.
