Robert “Bob” Hurst
“Together Again”
Our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Robert Nielsen Hurst, 87, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at his son's home in Centerville Utah.
Bob was born on May 27, 1938 in Logan, Utah, a son of Oliver Marion and Nellie Nielsen Hurst. He graduated from Logan High School in 1956. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army, where he became an exceptional marksman. During his military service, he was called to serve a mission in the British Isles Mission, serving in Northern Ireland, Wales and London. After the military, he went to Utah State University where he received his bachelor's degree in Plant Science.
Bob married Donna Mae Jorgensen on June 2, 1961 in Logan Temple. Donna passed away on March 23, 2020.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently was a member of the Brigham City 12th Ward.
Bob was self-employed in Pest Control.
He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, Bob and Donna made many trips to Yellowstone delivering their famous tomatoes. He was known as "Tomato Bob”.
Surviving are four children, Lorie (Michael) Jeppesen; Bryan (Kathy) Hurst; Bradley (Stacy) Hurst; Kelly (Minerva) Hurst; one daughter-in-law, Tamara Hurst; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Dougherty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna; one son, Bruce Hurst, three grandchildren and one great grandchild, two sisters, Helen Peterson and Laura Clayton.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan 13, 2026 at 11:00 am at Brigham City 12th Ward, 139 E 300 N.
Viewings will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E 200 S., Brigham City, Utah and on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church, where a livestream will be broadcasted. Please go to Robert's obituary at www.gilliesmortuary.com.
Interment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery where we will meet at 3:00 pm, where military honors will be accorded by Combined Veterans of Box Elder County.
