Stephen Boswell

March 15, 1943 — February 3, 2023

Stephen Ray Boswell passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 3, 2023.
Born March 15, 1943 to Jeniel Draper Boswell and Carlos Ray Boswell in Moroni, Utah. He was raised on a farm in Nephi Utah, where he learned to work hard and play even harder. During his youth Steve could often be found pumping gas and chatting with the customers at his dad’s service station on Main Street or challenging his friends to sup’ed up car races out west. He proudly enlisted and served in the Utah Army National Guard as a member of the 1457th engineering battalion for many years.
Stephen married Verna Marie Butler on July 30 1966, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple in December of 1980. Together they made a home in Nephi and raised 5 children teaching them the value of hard work, faith and family. Steve was trained as an industrial electrician at Utah Trade Tech and made a career in that field. He and Verna, along with help from their children, ran Steve’s Appliance and Repair. His quick wit and technical expertise made him a household name in Juab county as the go-to repairman and electrician. He had a passion for music and was an accomplished organist. He enjoyed playing the organ at weddings, ward functions, and family parties, and he sang with several choirs over the years. In his free time, he loved hunting, fishing, camping, and woodworking. He was a creative soul who loved to tinker and fix things. In 2002 he and Verna moved to Napa, California for a job opportunity where he made many friends and cherished memories, and caught the infamous 40-96 pound tuna in Baja. They retired to Brigham City, Utah in 2013.
Throughout his life Steve served in many leadership roles in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints putting his heart and soul into each calling. Steve was a positive example and a friend to everyone he met. Stephen is survived by his wife Verna of Brigham City, sons David (Carma) of Centerville, Donald (Angie) of Santiquin, daughters Christina (Edward) Hannan of Lehi, and Maria (Benjamin) Menlove of Ogden, 19 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. His sister Ann (Gordon) Kirk, brother Kelly (Julie), and his beloved uncle Lynn (Dixie) Boswell. He is proceeded in death by his son Ronald, granddaughters Tami and Lucy, great-grandson Brody.
