Listen to Obituary

Steven Allen Braegger, 79, our devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, November 8, 2025, reuniting in spirit with his beloved wife, Carol, who had slipped away earlier that same morning.

Born October 3, 1947, in Logan, Utah, to Raymond H. and Lenore Kaplan Braegger, Steve grew up in the Cache Valley he loved.

On October 6, 1973, he married the love of his life, Carol Simonsen, in Ogden, Utah. Their union was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple, beginning a joyful partnership that spanned more than five decades.

Steve built a distinguished career in accounting, retiring first from Deseret Book before joining the Utah State School for the Deaf and Blind, where he and Carol eventually retired together.

A natural entertainer, Steve brought warmth and energy to the airwaves as a radio announcer for KZAN, KQPD, KBZN and KLO, and lent his unmistakable voice to events at Ogden’s historic Egyptian Theatre. In his leisure, he delighted in cooking for family and friends, spinning records, and recording music.

Steve is survived by six sons, Warren (Cortney), Joshua, Dana (Laura), Christopher (Jennifer), Joel, and Daniel along with 19 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Jennifer Skinner of Brigham City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his adored wife, Carol; and his brother, Dennis Braegger.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Providence Cemetery, 925 River Heights Blvd, River Heights, UT 84321.

Arrangements entrusted to Gillies Funeral Chapel, Brigham City, Utah.
