Our loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend, Yasmin Ruth Freed (52) passed away peacefully at University of Utah Medical Center on October 18, 2025 after an unexpected battle with an unknown lingering illness.
She was born on December 7, 1972 in Sunderland, England, a daughter of Michael and Kathleen Evans McGrath.
Yasmin met and fell in love with her sweetheart, Blake Freed, while he was serving an LDS mission in England. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 24, 1995.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was an active member of the Brigham City 11th Ward. Over the years, she served in many different capacities, including cub scout leader.
She was a member and President of the Women’s Civic Club in Brigham City, a position that brought her great joy and fulfillment.
In her early years, much of her time was spent pursuing her two favorite hobbies: gymnastics and acting. As a child, her acting skills did not go unnoticed, as Yasmin was chosen to perform in several Broadway equivalent plays while growing up in England. She also had the opportunity to be a model. Yasmin loved to watch movies, had a keen passion for music, and thoroughly enjoyed going shopping. All throughout her life, Yasmin had a passion for tap dancing, an activity she participated in well into her adult years. Another important aspect of her character was her love for the holidays, which is evidenced by the fact that Yasmin was well known by family, friends, and community members alike for her extensive holiday decorating. Most importantly, Yasmin loved being a Mom, and spending time with her sons and their friends was the defining feature of her life (many of those friends consider her a second mother).
Surviving is her husband, Blake W. Freed; four sons, Ethan (Kambri) Freed; Jaden Freed; Taylor Freed; Dane Freed; her parents, Michael (Valera) McGrath; one brother, Michael McGrath Jr., one half brother, John McGrath, and one sister, Anita Darke. She is also survived by Adam (Sarah Doman) Isham, who, though not related by blood, was a son to her in every other way.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen McGrath.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Brigham City 11th Ward Chapel, 506 S 200 E..
Family will greet friends on Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the church.
She will be interred in the Brigham City Columbarium following the services at the church.
Entrusted to Gillies Mortuary, Brigham City
In lieu of flowers, some family members have set up a GoFundMe whose goal is to help provide adequate care for Yasmin and Blake’s youngest son, Dane, who suffers from severe autism:
